Random thoughts and ramblings
I’ve always been a Resharper user, even though I have a CodeRush/Refactor licence. Somehow, Resharper just seems to fit my coding style and habits better than CodeRush.
However, I’ve always liked the way CodeRush can visually render code …
I especially like the lines that show the extent of various constructs, like between the method braces above.
As CodeRush’s functionality is implemented in plugins, I wondered if I could reduce it down to just a couple of features. It turns out you can.
My options in CodeRush are now limited to those shown in the image on the right. They represent just 8 enabled plugins. This results in a small, lean CodeRush that gives me just what I want.
To do this - in the Options dialog select the “Expert” level, and select the “Plug-in Manager” option in the “Core” folder. Then for each plugin you want to disable, select the “Load Disable” and “Load Disable After Restart” checkboxes.
The image below shows the 8 plugins I have enabled …

SOA Manifesto
Service orientation is a paradigm that frames what you do.
Service-oriented architecture (SOA) is a type of architecture
that results from applying service orientation. We have been applying service orientation to help organizations
consistently deliver sustainable business value, with increased agility
and cost effectiveness, in line with changing business needs.Through our work we have come to prioritize:
Business value over technical strategy
Strategic goals over project-specific benefits
Intrinsic interoperability over custom integration
Shared services over specific-purpose implementations
Flexibility over optimization
Evolutionary refinement over pursuit of initial perfectionThat is, while we value the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.
Finally gave up trying to just get it to work by changing the large black ink tank. Succumbed to replacing the other 4 colors too. Just to print a couple of pages of B/W text.
Probably could have bought a whole new printer for the price of all those ink cartridges.
